We’re back today with more embroidery inspiration! Once again, Donna McCauley has worked her magic with Westalee Design rulers on an embroidered panel. She started with this elegant reindeer:
Using the Janome Ruler Work Kit designed by Leonie West of Westalee Design, Donna created an enchanting background for this magical creature. The templates used were the Simple Pointed Oval and the 8″ x 3″ Straight Ruler.
Donna use an aqua thread that matched the embroidered portion of the panel. Most of the pattern was created using the Pointed Oval Template.
We hope you’ve enjoyed these embroidered inspirations!
We all know how much Westalee Design rulers & templates can enhance our quilting, but did you know they can take your embroidery project to a whole other level? Donna McCauley, a Westalee Accredited teacher, shows us how with this gorgeous project she calls “Plumes for Sarah”.
Before it was quilted, the embroidered panel was quite pretty, as you can see here:
Donna quilted it using only the 6” Spiral template from the Westalee Design Sampler Set, and a medium gold-toned Isacord embroidery thread. Donna finished her panel by binding it in a beautiful gold fabric. If you want to try this yourself, Donna said your thread selection is very important. Have you used your Westalee Design templates and rulers on any embroidered projects? If so, we’d love to see them! Send your pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ve all heard the expression “April showers bring May flowers”, but did you know that snowflakes can make flowers bloom too? This pretty quilt by Donna McCauley proves it!
Donna used the Westalee Design oval Snowflake template from their Spin-E-Fex Snowflake Template Set to make fabrics from her stash bloom into hexagon hydrangeas!
It just goes to show you, snowflakes aren’t just for winter anymore – they’re a year-round occurrence! We’re giving away a set of these versatile templates on our Facebook page. Check it out here: Snowflake Giveaway
